2014-11-12 Say "Mommy"

Dear Franky,

At 2 1/2 years old, you had speech therapy sessions twice a week at your pediatrician's recommendation. Although you were the first to reach the walking/running milestone among your siblings, you weren't the most enthusiastic and articulate at speaking in your second year. But these past two weeks, I've noticed quite a difference in the way you greet Mommy when I get home from work.

Before, you used to "fake cry" and throw a quick tantrum when you see me at the door. Now, you just give me a big smile while you say "Mommy!!!" I'M SO PROUD. I don't know if it's the speech therapy working or you simply learning words at your own pace. I just know that everything is going to be all right with your speech development, in God's perfect time.

So in learning to talk, please don't be pressured or feel that we are rushing you. Take your time, Francis. After all, no college or job interview is going to ask you at what age you first learned to speak.

Love,
Mommy

P.S. To be fair to daddy, you were able to say DADDY a few days earlier before MOMMY :-)

2014-11-03 siblings

Dear Reese, Francis and Sera,

You are lucky to have each other. Growing up with siblings is one of the best gifts of life. You may not always get along and you'll surely fight often, but having a brother / sister will give you priceless childhood memories. You are each other's first playmate and first best friend. When everything else changes - school, friends, life in general - your family remains constant.

#siblinglove

I pray that you will develop a strong bond and special love over the years. And do have room for one more in your club. You're going to have a baby brother or sister really soon.

Love,
Mommy
